New Shows 2011.
Ringer
That was... not good.
Ioan was hot as ever but SMG was, um. Why does she keep getting humorless roles post-Buffy? It doesn't work for her, IMO. It only worked in Buffy because we see her become someone serious but with flashes of humor and the stakes were world ending high.
Maybe if this was more about the evil twin it would be more fun but the 'good' twin is so humorless and I dunno. It doesn't work for me especially as a CW show.
New Girl
I was looking forward to this especially since I thought y'know she was the new Liz Lemon (aka someone like me! sort of). But the comedy didn't work for me, I'll give it three episodes and then decide.
But that's two new shows that disappointed me, I hope the other shows hold up better.

Doctor Who - The Girl Who Waited
Oh, that was so sad. Ponds!
And, yet I wasn't really surprised Older!Amy didn't make it. It's a given she wouldn't, it was just the question of how. I never thought it would be by way of Eleven shutting the door on her face deliberately.
There's something about Matt Smith's acting of Eleven that makes his action... not as infuriating as Ten. Maybe its because there's this detachment he has? I don't know if that's the right word but, it was very clear how much his decision pained him but at the same time it didn't feel like Eleven wasn't making it all about him.
Oh, older!Amy, you were a star. Bitter and angry and so resourceful and the way she is always fighting but yet making the decision to not let herself in.
Of course, this does nothing at all to dissuade me from my theory that the Astronaut is Amy. I mean, of all the Companions, other than Donna she's the one who really sees the Doctor clearly. She has faith in him but she also knows he's fallible, he was just a man. A fantastic, wonderful man but the Doctor was still a man. He restored her faith in him when he returned for her but the mere fact that he misjudged the timing of his return is ingrained in Amy.
This season really does seem like the further disillusionment of Amy from Eleven and its hard to see since they're so close.
